Dr Helene Du Preez

Principal Dentist

Helene qualified as a dentist in 1993 from the University of Stellenbosch. She started her career as a newly qualified dentist shortly after at the Blackbrook Dental Practice where she worked for over 10 years.

She prides herself in providing the best possible care to her patients, and will always treat them with compassion, kindness and respect. She is grateful to have a very loyal following of patients over the past 30 years.

She is experienced in all aspects of general dentistry as well as having a special interest in orthodontics as well as facial aesthetics.

Helene started this practice because she wants to provide the best patient journey to old and new patients, and look forward to welcoming them to Lakeside Dental!

Dr Zara Baker

Associate DENTAL PRACTITIONER

Zara graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2017. Previous to this she trained as a dental hygiene and therapist graduating from University of Portsmouth in 2010. Her combined qualifications have provided her with experience within the community dental services treating anxious adults and children including those with more complex medical backgrounds.

Furthermore she has undertaken a year training in the oral and maxillofacial department since graduating and has 5 years experience delivering urgent care over weekends in Somerset.

Zara enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is currently undertaking a Postgraduate diploma in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry. She is pleased to offer tooth whitening and anti wrinkle treatments to amplify a patients smile.

She is looking to further her training with more comprehensive facial aesthetics and clear aligner treatment later this year.

Outside of work she enjoys being outdoors enjoying long walks and hiking, listening to live music with a touch of glamping on the side.

Karen Bellis

Dental Hygienist and Therapist
Karen qualified from Bristol in 2009 and has experience working in private, NHS and community dental settings. Karen has mentored dental hygiene students from Bristol Dental hospital and has taught dental nurse courses. She is also qualified to treat patients under inhalation sedation.

Karen’s fact sheet on oral health for people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PLMD) has been published by Mencap. She has extensive experience treating patients with learning difficulties and dental phobias.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys gardening and photography. She also loves spending time with her family, which includes three dogs and five runner ducks.

Dr Melissa Wright

Associate Dental Practitioner
Melissa qualified as a dentist by completing a Master’s degree, achieving a Merit from The University of Leeds in 2017.
Since then she relocated to Somerset to complete her foundation training, and has been working as an associate dentist at a practice in Exmoor since 2018.
She prides herself on putting patients at ease with her gentle and friendly manner. She understands that visiting the dentist can be quite overwhelming for some, but she has a proven track record of alleviating anxiety with her compassionate approach.
Melissa plans to complete further training in restorative dentistry, to complement her passion for general dentistry.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and young son.

Becky Deasey

Dental Hygienist
Becky qualified from Cardiff university in 2007, she also was awarded with the GlaxoSmithKline professional award.
She has worked in general practice since qualifying.
Becky likes to put patients at ease and loves to see the change in nervous patients.
Becky has worked in dentistry since leaving school training as a dental nurse at the Birmingham dental practice when she left to study dental hygiene she was deputy of her department.
In her spare time she loves days out with her family.

We offer a wide range of dental services, including exams, x-rays, hygiene appointments, fillings, root fillings, dentures, mouthguards, extractions, whitening, crowns and bridges, clear aligners, orthodontics, and children’s dentistry.

If you need to reschedule an appointment please notify us at least 24 hours in advance, cancellation within 24 hours may incur a fee.

After an initial consultation your dentist will recommend the frequency of subsequent visits and tailor the service to individual needs.

(It is recommended that you schedule a dental exam every 6 months).

In-hours emergency appointments are £99 for unregistered patients and £50 for registered patients.
